Atlasedge to Invest $530M in Portugal, a Hugely Promising Data Centre Market, Says Its CEO

Atlasedge, a prominent data center provider, has announced plans to invest $530 million in Portugal, emphasizing the country’s promising data center market.

In terms of capabilities, Lisbon 1 is a 6,200 sqm site with an existing facility which is currently being upgraded to accommodate AtlasEdge’s target customer base and Lisbon 2 is a 8,450 sqm greenfield site.

“Both sites will come online and onboard customers over the next three years,” Di Vitantonio said. “We have already secured strong initial interest from several multinational platforms, enterprises, and connectivity providers.”

The executive added that the Portuguese capital has been a long-term target for AtlasEdge. “The city boasts unparalleled global connectivity, being a major beneficiary of subsea cables connecting the Iberian Peninsula to Africa, North and South America. It is also a market characterised by incredibly robust demand for ready-to-sell capacity, with Lisbon home to several global hyperscalers. Portugal, more broadly, is not only a relatively underserved data centre market primed for future growth but also a market defined by a readily available supply of renewable energy.”

Delaware Corp Sterling to Develop $100M Data Centre in Southeastern US

Sterling, a Delaware-based corporation, has announced plans to develop a new $100 million data center in the southeastern United States. The project aims to address the increasing demand for data center services in the region and strengthen Sterling’s position in the competitive data center market.

KDDI Unveils Telehouse Canada and Restructures Senior Positions in Europe

OVH Launches $145M Data Centre Project in Canada

Vantage Plans $1bn Dublin Data Center Campus in Ireland with On-Site Power Generation

Phase one of the campus is expected to be up and running by the end of the year. Vantage says the campus will be “highly efficient,” with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2 and using virtually no water for cooling.

David Howson, president for the EMEA region at Vantage Data Centers, said: “Throughout this development, there will be a significant positive economic impact to the community as we employ more than 1,100 individuals during peak construction and create approximately 165 jobs to operate the campus.”
