Meta pledges $10bn investment for El Paso, Texas, data center

Meta is ramping up its data center ambitions in Texas, increasing its investment in its El Paso campus to $10 billion, with plans to scale the site up to 1GW of capacity. The project, which broke ground in 2025, will be developed in multiple phases across more than 1,000 acres, with peak construction expected to involve around 4,000 workers and ultimately create 300 full-time roles.

The company is also committing to sustainability and community initiatives, including restoring 200% of the water used by the facility and matching its energy consumption with renewable sources. Despite El Paso not being a traditional data center hub, Meta is positioning the site as a major infrastructure expansion, supported by significant on-site power deployment, including hundreds of modular gas generators scheduled to come online by 2027.

Prime Data Centers to develop 550MW campus in Esbjerg, Denmark

Prime Data Centers is expanding into Europe with plans for a 550MW data center campus in Esbjerg, Denmark, in partnership with Brunswick Real Estate. The ESB01 project will span 640,000 sqm, with construction expected to begin in 2027 and initial capacity going live in 2029. The first phase will deliver 160MW, backed by an estimated €2 billion investment, with total funding potentially reaching €6 billion at full build-out.

“This project represents Prime’s commitment to Denmark and the broader Nordic region as we work to meet rapidly growing demand for digital infrastructure that powers hyperscale cloud, AI, and HPC workloads,” said Nicholas Laag. Local authorities also welcomed the development, with Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen noting it reinforces the city’s position as a growing digital infrastructure hub in Northern Europe.

Crusoe confirms Microsoft as customer at campus in Abilene, Texas

Crusoe has confirmed that Microsoft will lease 900MW at its Abilene, Texas campus, taking the remaining capacity and bringing the site’s total to 2.1GW. The deal includes two new buildings and a dedicated on-site power plant, with the first facility expected to go live in mid-2027.

“As customer demand for AI continues to grow, Microsoft is focused on ensuring access to reliable and responsible infrastructure at scale,” said Noelle Walsh. Local officials also highlighted the economic impact, noting the project is expected to create jobs and further boost the region as a growing hub for large-scale AI infrastructure.

Prologis files to develop data center outside Toronto, Canada

Prologis has filed plans to develop a data center in Mississauga, Ontario, as part of a mixed-use project that would also include two distribution centers. The proposed two-story facility would span around 20,340 sqm, with the site currently under review by the city council.

The development would take place on a 39-acre plot near Toronto, one of Canada’s key data center markets, though part of the land includes a historic working farm that will be partially retained by its owners. Nebius plans 310MW AI data center in Lappeenranta, Finland

Nebius is developing a 310MW AI data center campus in Lappeenranta, Finland, with initial capacity expected to go live in 2027. Amazon purchases 1,300 acres in Morrow County, Oregon

Telis Energie Deutschland plans 500MW data center in Lower Saxony, Germany

Telis Energie Deutschland is planning a 500MW data center campus in Lower Saxony, Germany, near Hanover, with construction potentially starting in 2028. The six-building project would span 380,000 sqm and, if completed, rank among the largest data center developments in the country, backed by at least €1 billion in investment.

Speaking about the project, Florian Zickfeld indicated the scale of the investment, while the company expects the site to create around 80 permanent jobs. 360MW data center to be built outside Austin, Texas

A 360MW data center campus, known as Project Comal, has been approved for development in Taylor, Texas, about 35 miles northeast of Austin. The project, previously valued at $10 billion, has now reached a key milestone with vertical construction underway, despite earlier concerns around funding and investor confidence.

An Oracle spokesperson noted that the project has “recently hit a major milestone,” with construction progressing on-site. LandBridge & PowerBridge partner for 2GW data center campus in West Texas

LandBridge and PowerBridge are partnering to develop a massive data center campus in West Texas, with plans to scale up to 2GW of capacity on a 3,400-acre site in Reeves County. The Alpha Digital Campus will combine data center infrastructure with co-located power generation, positioning the project as a fully integrated, power-ready solution for hyperscale demand.

“This new agreement… represents a catalyst for executing on the West Texas data center thesis,” said Jason Long, highlighting the region’s advantages in land, energy, and permitting. PowerBridge CEO Alex Hernandez added that the goal is to deliver “pad-ready” campuses capable of supporting multi-gigawatt deployments. Initial power delivery is expected by 2027, with full-scale generation following in 2028.
