Aboitiz Infracapital to Break Ground on First Data Centre in 2024

Aboitiz Infracapital, a leading infrastructure developer, has announced plans to commence the construction of its inaugural data center facility in 2024.  AIC’s Chief Executive Officer, Cosette Canilao, revealed that the company aims to kickstart the building of their inaugural data centre within the current year. However, the specifics concerning the location and data capacity of this hub, designed to cater to critical servers and IT networks, are still being finalised. “We are waiting for the right time and condition to start building,” Canilao told the Inquirer.

The partnership between AIC and ECX was formalised in October 2022, with the creation of two joint venture companies that would undertake the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centres in the country.

The groundbreaking signifies Aboitiz Infracapital’s strategic entry into the data center market, aiming to capitalize on the increasing demand for digital infrastructure in the region. With this initiative, the company aims to contribute to the advancement of digital connectivity and support the growing digital economy.

Yondr Launches 300MW Data Centre Project in South East Asia

Yondr, a key player in the data center industry, has unveiled plans for a significant data center project in South East Asia, boasting a capacity of 300MW. This ambitious initiative underscores Yondr’s commitment to meeting the escalating demand for data processing and storage infrastructure in the region.

The energisation announcement follows a strategic partnership secured by Yondr in August 2023 with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, a multinational Malaysian electricity company, and the largest publicly listed power company in southeast Asia. The partnership entails an Electricity Supply Agreement that enables the delivery of 300MW+ IT load at Yondr’s Johor campus via a 275kV high voltage substation. This energy supply capacity will effectively make Yondr’s site the largest hyperscale data centre campus in Southeast Asia, according to the group.

The project aligns with Yondr’s mission to provide cutting-edge digital infrastructure solutions to support the growth of various industries and facilitate digital transformation.

Google to Build $1bn Data Center in Kansas City, Missouri

Google has announced plans to invest $1 billion in the construction of a new data center in Kansas City, Missouri. This substantial investment underscores Google’s commitment to expanding its digital infrastructure to meet the ever-growing demand for cloud services and data processing capabilities.  According to Monique Picou, global vice president of cloud supply chain and operations, the company’s continued investment in technical infrastructure such as data centers is the “backbone” for supporting its AI innovations and business growth.

“Google’s selection of the Kansas City region is another example of our state’s ability to attract and support world-class companies,” said Governor Mike Parson. “Our skilled workforce, superior infrastructure, and prime business climate continue to result in investments from leading employers. We welcome Google to Missouri and look forward to the positive impact it will provide for our growing high-tech sector.” The new data center is expected to create numerous job opportunities and contribute to the economic development of the region.

CorScale Starts Work on Second Building at Gainesville Campus in Virginia

CorScale, a prominent data center developer, has initiated construction on the second building at its Gainesville campus in Virginia. This expansion project reflects CorScale’s confidence in the continued growth of the data center market and its commitment to meeting the increasing demand for digital infrastructure.

CorScale is working with construction firm HITT on the project. The company’s website says the two-story Building 2 at the campus will total 288,000 sq ft and offer 72MW. Founded by real estate firm Patrinely Group and backed by USAA Real Estate, the company broke ground on its first building at its debut campus back in February 2022. The new facility is poised to enhance Corscale’s capacity to deliver reliable and scalable data center solutions to its clients.

NTT Breaks Ground on 12MW Data Center in Bangkok, Thailand

NTT, a global leader in technology services, has commenced construction on a new 12MW data center facility in Bangkok, Thailand. This groundbreaking marks NTT’s significant investment in enhancing its data center infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of businesses in the region.

Originally announced in March 2023, commercial operations are set to launch in H2 2025. The 4,000 sqm (43,055 sq f) facility is set to be located adjacent to BKK2 at the Amata City Chonburi industrial estate. NTT originally said the $90 million facility was to begin operations in the second half of 2024. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to bolster Thailand’s digital ecosystem and support the country’s digital transformation efforts.

Stack Infrastructure Breaks Ground on 60MW Silicon Valley Expansion
