Cassava Technologies-Sponsored ADC Grows South Africa Data Centre Platform with $300M US Loan
Cassava Technologies, in collaboration with Africa Data Centres (ADC), is expanding its data center footprint in South Africa, fueled by a $300 million loan from the United States. This funding is aimed at enhancing the capacity and reach of ADC’s infrastructure in South Africa to meet the increasing demand for digital services.
Finhai Munzara, Interim CEO of Africa Data Centres, said: “The introduction of wheeled solar power at the CPT1 facility offers significant benefits to our’ customers, providing a truly sustainable data centre solution. As the demand for data continues to skyrocket across Africa, a continent where power supply is often intermittent, the need for reliable, cost-effective, and green power has never been more critical.”
The investment will bolster ADC’s ability to provide advanced, scalable solutions across the region, aligning with Cassava’s vision to transform the African digital landscape.
CDPQ to Finance Vantage Data Centers’ Quebec City Campus
CDPQ, a major Canadian pension fund, is financing Vantage Data Centers’ new campus in Quebec City. This financial backing will support the development of a state-of-the-art facility designed to cater to the growing demand for data services in Canada.

NTT to Develop 500MW Data Center Campus on Former Army Base Outside Frankfurt, Germany
NTT is set to transform a former army base outside Frankfurt, Germany, into a massive 500MW data center campus. This ambitious project will enhance NTT’s capacity to provide high-performance data solutions in Europe’s digital hub.
The Rhein-Selz-Park spans around 750,000 sqm (8 million sq ft) of the former US Army barracks. It is being developed by the real estate firm Richter Group. Formerly Anderson Barracks, the site was use by the US armed forces from 1953 to around 2009 – plans for an industrial park were announced in 2015. The base was home to the 123rd Main Support Battalion and the 501st Military Intelligence Battalion.
The Frankfurt campus will incorporate the latest technologies and sustainable practices to ensure efficiency and scalability. This development reflects NTT’s strategic expansion in key global markets, supporting the growing demand for digital infrastructure in the region.
ODATA Breaks Ground on QR04 Facility in Mexico
ODATA has commenced construction on its new QR04 facility in Mexico, marking a significant milestone in its Latin American expansion. This new data center will enhance ODATA’s ability to deliver robust digital infrastructure services across the region.
Founded in 2015 by Brazilian private equity firm Patria Investments, OData was acquired by US operator Aligned in a deal that closed last year.
As well as Mexico, OData offers colocation services from four data center sites in Brazil, two in Chile, and one in Colombia. The company launched a campus in Rio and expanded its Santiago campus last year.
The QR04 facility is designed to meet the increasing demand for reliable and scalable data solutions in Mexico, incorporating advanced technology and sustainable practices. This project underscores ODATA’s commitment to growth and innovation in emerging markets.

CalEthos is expanding its data center ambitions in Lithium Valley, California, with the acquisition of a 315-acre land parcel. This strategic move aims to bolster CalEthos’s capacity to provide advanced digital infrastructure solutions.
“This new property gives CalEthos the acreage to develop three to four million sq ft of data centers over time as more geothermal power plants and other renewable energy and storage solutions come online in and around Lithium Valley”, said CalEthos COO and president Joel Stone.
