Spanish Green Energy Firm Solaria Partners with Japanese Tech Company for AI Data Centre
Spanish renewable energy firm Solaria has partnered with a Japanese tech company to build an AI-powered data centre. This project highlights the increasing demand for AI infrastructure and the use of green energy in data centres.
The firm counts Japanese telecom giant KDDI, the parent company of data centre operator Telehouse, as its major shareholder and has strategic partnerships with Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn and American company Super Micro Computer.
The facility will be powered by Solaria’s renewable energy sources, ensuring an eco-friendly approach to supporting AI operations. This collaboration aligns with global trends towards sustainability in the rapidly expanding data centre sector.
Arcus-Backed Portus Data Centers Unveils Plans for German Facility
Portus Data Centers, supported by infrastructure investment firm Arcus, has announced plans to build a new data centre facility in Germany.
Sascha E. Pollok, CEO of IPHH, said: “IPHH4 will be fully integrated into the virtual campus of IPHH2 and IPHH3 and therefore the ideal interconnect location in Hamburg. With around 50 carriers and network operators, just a standard cross connect away, IPHH4 will be a major and highly accessible interconnection hub.”

Expected to be up and running by 2026, and complete by 2027, it will be designed and operated by the JV, LG Sinar Mas (LG SM). The facility will feature liquid cooling to enable it to host artificial intelligence servers and other high-density hardware.
