Prime and Vantage buy land in Phoenix, Arizona 

US data center firms Vantage and Prime have both acquired land plots in west Phoenix, Arizona. 

Prime buys land in Arizona and adds Dallas site Citing real estate database Vizzda, BizJournal reports Prime Data Centers has bought 66 acres in Avondale on the south side of the Hermosa Ranch Technology Campus. 

Meanwhile, Vantage has bought more land in the Glendale area of Phoenix. Again citing Vizdata, BizJournal reports Vantage acquired nearly 34 acres from Phoenix-based industrial developer Merit Partners for $50 million in March. 

NextDC listing reveals data center plans in New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan 

NextDC has quietly added plans for new data center developments in New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan to its website. 

The potential expansion plans in New Zealand were first noticed by Reseller News which reported last month that the company had bought several blocks of land in central Auckland and then noticed the update to the company’s website. 

The company has named its planned New Zealand data center ‘AK1,’ and says that the facility will be meshed with low-latency connectivity to Australian cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Perth. No details about the size or capacity of the data center have been shared.

AdaniConneX to build 200MW data center campus in Andhra Pradesh, India 

Dubbed by the company as an ‘Integrated Data Center and Technology Business Park,’ the campus will be located in the Madhurawada area of Vizag (Visakhapatnam), and is reported the first of three technology zones planned for the city. 

“Our world is being defined by our ability to generate, store, access, and move data,” said Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group. “With the advancements in AI, high-definition content, and massive digitization, the need for compute and storage is increasing exponentially. Andhra Pradesh, with its geographical advantages of land for renewable energy and a long coastline, is well positioned to host data center parks not only for our country but also for those nations that are short of land or energy.” 

The data center will be hosted by AdaniConneX, a 50/50 joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX, and will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy. The company also says that it will be connected to the local terrestrial and submarine infrastructure

Skybox & Prologis plan 600MW data center campus in Austin, Texas 

US operator Skybox Datacenters and real estate firm Prologis are developing a massive data center campus in Austin, Texas.  

First reported by Data Center Frontier (DCF), Skybox has announced plans for PowerCampus Austin; a 600MW campus across 160 acres in the Hutto area of northeast Austin. 

The campus could reportedly hold up to four million sq ft (371,600 sqm) of data center space in partnership with logistics real estate giant Prologis. The site would include two 300MW private substations. 

Novva plans 60MW data center in Reno, Nevada

The company this week announced plans for a 20-acre data center campus in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) in Storey County. 

Located at 1 Astro Way in McCarran, Novva Tahoe Reno will offer 60MW of capacity across 300,000 sq ft (28,870 sqm). The facility will include six 10MW data halls and a dedicated on-site 100MW N+1 substation from NV Energy. The facility will open in late 2024. 

“Our new tech-forward facility, which we’ve dubbed Novva Tahoe Reno, will feature all of the hallmarks enterprises have come to expect from Novva’s facilities: sustainability, innovation, security, and unrivaled amenities,” said Wes Swenson, founder, and CEO of Novva Data Centers. “Storey County is a growing tech hub centrally located to major western cities with access to renewable energy alternatives and attractive sales and use tax abatement programs, making it an ideal location to continue our expansion in the Western US.”

Khazna to build first data center outside the UAE in Cairo, Egypt 

Company eyeing future moves into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Morocco 

UAE firm Khazna Data Centers is expanding internationally and announced plans to enter Egypt with a new data center in Cairo. 

Khazna is to partner with local IT firm Benya Group for a new $250 million data center in the Maadi Technology Park in the Egyptian capital. 

The data center will offer 25MW of capacity, with plans for expansion of up to 50MW, across 40,000 sqm (430,550 sq ft). Construction is expected to commence later this year, with completion targeted for ‘within three years’ 

AIMS DC begins work on second building Cyberjaya, plans retrofit in Kuala Lumpur 

The company this week announced the construction of AIMS Cyberjaya Block 2, adding 8MW and set to be live by the end of 2023. 

“We achieved more than 90 percent occupancy in AIMS Cyberjaya Block 1 in less than a year,” Chiew Kok Hin, AIMS CEO, said. “This has accelerated our plans to expand our operational facilities in Malaysia with the construction of Block 2 to not only meet overwhelming response in the region, but also aligns with our initiative towards driving environmental, social, and governance practices within the company and facilitating innovation in the industry.” 

AIMS is also developing a new facility in Kuala Lumpur. The company announced it will be launching a 5MW facility in the former Bangunan KWSP building it acquired last year. The retrofitted site is located within 100 meters of AIMS’ existing Kuala Lumpur data center, and is targeted for completion in May 2023. 

New Macquarie-backed data centre operator launches in Indonesia 

The new platform comes to through the acquisition of two in-town assets designed to answer local demand from both national and international enterprises. 

Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA) has launched data centre platform Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC) in Indonesia. 

BDIA is a Southeast Asian regional digital infrastructure platform controlled by Provident Capital and Saratoga along with a Macquarie Asset Management consortium as a strategic partner. 

BDDC launches with two acquired data centres, namely PT Rumah Data Kita from ProCap Properti (JST Site) and PT PCDC Propco One (JBT Site) AtriaDC from PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk (Saratoga). 

The new hosting operator will support demand for digital infrastructure from multiple sectors in Indonesia.
